Get to know brother/sister team Angee and Adam!

As you may or may not know, 14/69 is a family-owned business. Brother/sister team Angee Butler and Adam Beckstedt have worked together for almost two decades. Get to know them here, in a short Q&A.

Angee:

How did you get into the business?
I grew up running around a shop.  When I was little, I used to watch my Dad push cars around and I thought he was so strong.  Now I do it.... I guess wheels make it a lot easier than it looks.  After college, my Dad asked me to temporarily work as an estimator because he was shorthanded.  I was hooked and have been here pretty much ever since.

How long have you been with 14/69?
I've been here since it opened in 1988 but I got a paying job in approximately 2000.  Sometimes you work for free in a family business.

What's it like to work with family?
Very hard but I wouldn't change it.  There are often disagreements, misunderstandings, and hurt feelings.... but the best part is that at the end of the day, we work it out.  Sometimes it takes until the end of the week. LOL. There is a level of trust when you work with family that I don't think you can get anywhere else.  I can say anything, do anything, and I know they just have to put up with me.

What's something most people don't know about you?
I have two teenagers... HELP ME!
I lost 40 lbs almost 3 years ago by changing my eating and exercising and using Advocare programs and products.  I went from a size 16-18 to a 6-8.  I exercise almost every day and competed in my first triathlon last month - I won my age group.

Coke or Pepsi?
Only with whiskey.  Otherwise, water please.

Adam:

How did you get into the business?
Growing up around the business made it a comforting atmosphere to transition into. Shortly after school I had started here and since I have done every job here except working on the cars full time although I still love to help problem solve issues that come up and help working on the cars in a pinch.

How long have you been with 14/69?
I started working at the shop in 2000. So I am almost at 14 years.

What's it like to work with family?
It has its benefits and also its downfalls. I am around my family a lot more than most people and sometimes that create a comforting atmosphere you can only get with your family members. With that comfort it also is easy to get upset with each other quicker since you have known one another for your whole life.

What's something most people don't know about you?
I love BACON but who doesn’t so maybe that doesn’t count. How about the fact that I am horrible with punctuation when writing letters or emails.

Coke or Pepsi?
Water. But if I had to pick one it would be Coke.
